The 2020 Game Plan

Who’s excited about starting a new year and decade?  I know I am!

This year, my practice in lil’ ol’ Woodstock, NY turns 10 years old. The first few days of the decade I brought home triplet babies, and then it all went topsy turvy from there.

Let’s get into what we’re going to be doing in 2020 and what big things you can expect to see this year.

Re-branding & Product Revamp

Our transition from Village Vitality to Woodstock Vitamins will be complete within weeks.  Thank goodness, I’m sick of those old labels ????

We take product quality more seriously than most out there, and that will never change. If anything, it will get better.

Product selection-wise, we just have too much stuff! Some of it I no longer recommend due to changing protocols and data.  It’s time to pull the weeds.

We’re going to run through our shelves and find products that aren’t moving and discount them off, never to be ordered again. Well, unless you really want them.

We’ll be running each category and product through a more refined Supplement Quality Standard process.  I envision that by the end of the year we’ll have a thorough database built up around supplement quality that we’ll be sharing bits and pieces with you all.

The result will be an even tighter focus on the best raw materials and products we can offer. It will be easier to find things online with less clutter, too!

Video Content

We teased it last year and we’ve almost hit our small goal of subscribers.

Once I pay off some of these Christmas credit cards I’m buying some equipment to make some high quality, short videos talking all about supplements and supplement quality.

Here’s my thought for some “shows” for the channel:

  • Supplement product reviews: I’ll look at some products in different categories and walk you through why I do or don’t like them.
  • Holistic care tips: How do you treat sleep, allergies, joint pain, and more in the most holistic way possible? We’ll show ya!
  • The Rant in 2 minutes: Don’t like words and reading them? I’ll summarize my most popular and recent rants on the supplement industry.
  • Journal club: I’ll review current events and studies, giving you my 2 cents or less. What a bargain!.

We’re writing scripts for all of this as we speak. I’m really excited to show you these.

Podcast Revamping

The Big Mouth Pharmacist Podcast is easily my favorite content to create.

This year, we’re introducing a new theme song and voice-over intro to make the show sound even more professional.

I’m introducing a number of “bits” to each show. Instead of just an interview, it will have 1 or 2 segments of additional information:

  • Journal club – current events/news articles about supplement quality
  • Q&A – questions from listeners about anything health or show related
  • The 1 Minute Rant – a minute-ish long tear about something industry-related that caused my blood pressure to rise
  • The Blog Review – a quick review of content we’ve covered in the past to get people up to speed quickly

We’re going to have all podcast content moved to a new location. It will have all the show notes and more, plus my appearances on other podcasts.

If you haven’t heard the show, please click here and give it a listen.  Last week in our 2019 review I listed out my favs, so check those episodes first!

Supplement School

This is the big one.  Recently, I launched drnealsmoller.com, a hub for all the different things I’m doing professionally.

Along with it, I launched Supplement School, an online education platform to teach anyone who’s interested in how to build a sustainable wellness practice with their expertise at the center.

Our first class kicks off January 16th and we’ve hit our first attendance goal.

The big thing I’m going to be wrestling with is how drnealsmoller.com and Woodstock Vitamins will connect as it pertains to all the stuff I’m doing. I’m keeping the blogs over here, so don’t change the dial.

I’m scratching my head on it, but don’t be surprised to see more Neal than you have before…

The Holistic Standard: A Book?

On my new site, I finally “branded” my method for no-BS wellness using high-quality supplements.

I call this the Holistic Standard.

You’ll see more allusions to this as we go on.

I think it’s time I take my content and put it into my first book.

I’ve had writing a book as a goal of mine for some time. My most loud cheerleaders in my following have been nudging me to get it done. I’ve got plenty of material to re-purpose and a nice little framework to tell the story.

I’ll be chipping away at it daily and we’ll see if we can finish 2020 with a nice little paperback in hand.

All the Best for 2020

I’ve got big plans for 2020. As I did in my 2019 post, I’m going to evoke a wise sage:“Everyone one has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”-Mike Tyson

Let’s all put down the figgy pudding and high-calorie meals for a bit. Let’s get our wellness, social, and work plans on paper. Make your expectations nothing like mine.  Make them way more reasonable.

Take action every day towards those goals. Start with a wellness plan with me and the crew here at Woodstock Vitamins.

We can be content in December 2020 knowing we moved towards our goals successfully, even if we fall a little short. No big deal, no judgment.

But we have to move forward.

This year could be YOUR best yet, too. As you’re here to help support me and my “big mouth”, we’re here to support you on your wellness journey.

Let’s make the 2020 motto: Keep Moving Forward.

Happy New Year!

Just trying to keep it real…
